JOB DESCRIPTION

Central Florida Animal Reserve (CFAR) is seeking motivated, dedicated, and passionate candidates interested in learning and gaining experience in all aspects of animal care through our Seasonal Keeper position. Experiences achieved include large felid husbandry, enclosure maintenance, diet prep, enrichment, behavior training, record keeping and projects. Learning modules include natural history of the animals, animal behavior, professional goal assessment/guidance, introduction to USDA guidelines, safety, a project focused on the individual’s professional goals, and more.

CFAR operates under a strict protected contact policy.

Seasonal Keepers must work at least 40-hours per week for a 3-month period which can be extended to 6 months, with reapplication and acceptance into the program.

EDUCATION AND PRE-REQUISITES

College students who have completed 4 semesters toward a science or related degree preferred. Students working toward bachelor’s degree preferred. Ideal for recent college graduates working toward a career in the animal care field.
Physically able to lift and carry 50 pounds, stoop, bend, reach, and grasp.
Physically able to work outside in Central Florida climate.
Valid driver’s license and transportation.
Proof of health insurance coverage for illness or injury.
Available to work weekends as scheduled.
Experience working with animals is preferred.
